Torrevieja, The “"Torrevieja and the Sea" have once again demonstrated, for yet another year, the excellent state of local gastronomy, bringing together lovers of seafood cuisine on several Fridays for an event that has paid tribute to the city’s main culinary heritage: the sea.
In this latest edition, four restaurants offered exclusive tasting menus featuring locally sourced produce and recipes that blend tradition, creativity and technique, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the Torrevieja coastline.
The restaurant Las Villas He opened the event with a menu featuring boiled Santa Pola prawns, “Las Villas” scallops au gratin and Torreveja-style cuttlefish sangochao – a selection of dishes that stood out for the way they allowed the natural flavours of the ingredients to shine through.
For its part, Waxing Moon He surprised the guests with a menu featuring a mojama tuna tartare with avocado, almonds and strawberries, crispy octopus on a skewer, and a choice between a skewer of red prawns or a delicious black rice dish.
The restaurant Luz de Mar He opted for an elegant, contemporary menu, featuring an old-fashioned tuna tartare with burrata as a starter and an exquisite glazed sea bream fillet as the main course, winning over diners with a menu full of subtle nuances.
The restaurant hosted the closing ceremony of the conference La Mar de Bien, which rounded off the meal with a menu comprising oysters with a coconut milk and mango vinaigrette, a seafood salad with baby prawns and Santa Pola prawns, and a traditional fish stew from the bay with clams and prawns, reflecting the essence of the Mediterranean in every dish.
As on every other day of the event, all the restaurants welcomed attendees with a welcome cocktail, creating a relaxed atmosphere in which guests, organisers and hosts could share their thoughts whilst enjoying canapés and raising a glass to the local cuisine.
During the closing ceremony, a certificate of recognition was presented to the four participating restaurants in recognition of their involvement and contribution to the success of this year’s event. The awards were presented by the mayor of Torrevieja, Eduardo Dolón; the Director-General for Tourism of the Valencian Regional Government Israel Martínez; and the chairman of the Hospitality Association, José Ignacio Pastor. Also present was Rosario Martínez Chazarra, the councillor responsible for the hospitality sector
The excellent reception this year’s event has received confirms the growth and consolidation of a festival that has become a gastronomic highlight of the city. The association is already working on preparations for the next edition, with the aim of continuing to promote local cuisine and the talent of Torrevieja’s restaurant scene.
The association would like to express its particular gratitude for the commitment of the participating restaurants and the loyalty of all those who, week after week, have helped to make “"Torrevieja and the Sea" a celebration of the finest flavours of the Mediterranean.
