They present a new weekly route campaign that will take place until 21 March under the name 'Tapas Thursday', at a price of 2 euros.
From tomorrow until 21 March, forty establishments members of the Association of Hospitality Businessmen of Torrevieja and Region join together to carry out a new initiative that, despite having certain similarities with the routes of the cover, is well differentiated under the name of 'Tapas Thursday'. The councillor of Commerce and Hospitality, Agustina Esteve, accompanied by the vice president of the Association of Hospitality Businessmen of Torrevieja and Shire, Luis Miguel Blanco, and the treasurer of the association, Luis Miguel Rodriguez, were responsible for unveiling yesterday the details of this new initiative.
One of the main objectives is to attract young people, who are increasingly going out on this day to kick-start the weekend. They also aim to promote tapas in the city at very interesting prices, with a clear focus on promoting the traditional and regular tapas of the participating bars and restaurants. In addition, all those who enjoy this initiative carried out by the City Council and the hotel and catering association will be able to take part in a draw to win a trip for two, by means of ballots that will be handed out in the bars and restaurants. The winner will be the person who matches the winning number in the National Lottery draw on 30 March. The hotel and catering representatives are considering three possibilities for this prize. The lucky winners will be able to choose between a cruise, a trip to Tenerife or a trip that would include a visit to a winery.
The vice-president of the hotel and catering collective pointed out that this initiative has been designed with the associated bars and restaurants in mind, and that although this first edition is already closed, the intention is to organise new offers of this type at other times of the year. He also pointed out that thanks to this activity they are going to try to achieve "the habit of tapas, within a wide range of possibilities, which should highlight an increase in the quality and variety of the product". For this first edition of 'Jueves tapas', the hotel and catering trade has been able to count on the collaboration of the Mahou brewery, which is sponsoring a large part of the infrastructure and logistics of the event. Naturally, the ingredient that accompanies the tapa is a fifth of beer for the total price of two euros, although customers will also be able to choose from other drinks, at the discretion of the particular establishment.
Another important issue is the timetable, which will be free for each establishment registered on the route, and the choice of tapas will depend on the criteria of each participating kitchen.
The Hotel and Catering Association is planning to develop another series of activities, with a view to relaunching the sector and its associates, such as the Rice Week, which, according to the president of the organisation, José Antonio Lozano, could be officially announced during the next celebration in Madrid of the tourism fair, Fitur, where a representation from Torrevieja will be present.
