The IV Contest "Croqueteando por Torrevieja" returns with a luxury jury.
The renowned Chef, César Anca and the prestigious and popular Chef, Koldo Royo will be part of the jury of the IV COMPETITION "CROQUETEANDO POR TORREVIEJA".
The next Thursday 4th April, Torrevieja will be the setting for the IV "Croqueteando por Torrevieja" Contest. organised by the Asociación de Empresas de Hostelería de Torrevieja y Comarca (AEHTC), where the participating associated establishments will compete for the title of the best croquette.
This year, the jury will be made up of two renowned chefs of national and international renown: César Anca and Koldo Royo. Chef César Anca studied cooking at the Hotel Escuela de la Comunidad de Madrid, began his professional career at the Cabo Mayor restaurant, under the orders of Pedro Larumbe, to continue in such emblematic establishments in the nineties in Madrid as Samarkanda restaurant, el Amparo, la Leyenda, Taberna del Sumiller and hotels such as Villa Magna or Palace, coinciding in them with top professionals such as Antonio Ortega and Martín Berasategui.
He currently runs his own establishment "César Anca Restaurante & Barra", in one of the most emblematic areas of the city of Alicante, the Paseo de la Explanada.
He also works as a gastronomic consultant and teaches various cooking courses for companies and organisations such as CDT (Centro de Turismo) in Alicante, Centro de E.S. "Canastell", Centro Comercial Gran Vía, Centro Comercial El Corte Inglés, as well as different training initiatives in catering and cooking for young people and children.
His signature cuisine has received several prizes and awards over the years and has achieved gourmet excellence for the palate, while Koldo Royo is an internationally renowned chef with a multitude of books published on Tapas and Pinchos.
Through cooking, chef Koldo Royo likes to communicate, share knowledge, learn and teach. These are the motivations that lead him to experience different aspects of cooking and hospitality in all the projects he develops in his gastronomic production company, Bon Gust Producciones.
To share and disseminate he likes all media because, with the language of each one of them, he can discover different facets of gastronomy: social media, TV, radio, print and online press, paper books or e-books.
His first contact with the hotel and catering business was at home, as his family owned a bar in San Sebastian. He began his training at the Juan Mari Arzak restaurant and, after working at the Nicolasa restaurant in San Sebastian and learning in Mexico, he started working in Madrid with Luis Irizar.
When he returned to Spain, he opened his first restaurant as head chef: Rte. Porto Pi, where he stayed for 3 years and was awarded a Michelin Star. In 1989 he opened his own restaurant (Rte. Koldo Royo) with 1 Michelin Star, where he developed his dishes until 2009.
Koldo Royo has worked in television and radio and was a pioneer in bringing cooking to the Internet in 1998 through his website A fuego lento. At the same time, he founded the Association of Cooks Based in the Balearic Islands (ASCAIB), from where he likes to welcome and promote all the cooking professionals who work in the Balearic Islands. Since 2013 he has been making fast food in food trucks.
Along with the renowned chefs César Anca and Koldo Royo, the jury will be made up of the councillor for Catering and Tourism, Rosario Martínez, who will contribute her vision from the municipal and tourism promotion perspective.
Likewise, the director of the CdT (Torrevieja Tourism Centre), Alicia Arenas, will contribute her experience in training and development of the gastronomic sector. Completing this select group, Jesús Ruiz Rodado, technical advisor of the sponsoring company Comercial Roldán, will contribute with his experience in the business and commercial field, thus enriching the evaluation of the croquettes presented to the competition.
The IV Contest "CROQUETEANDO POR TORREVIEJA" will take place in the CdT of Torrevieja on Thursday 4th April at 10:30 h.
Registrations will be open until Friday 29th March, we encourage all members to participate and show their creativity in making croquettes.
This year, as a novelty, the winners of the IV CONTEST "CROQUETEANDO POR TORREVIEJA" will receive cash prizes and quality products from the following companies Roldan Netya.

Second prize: €500,00 in cash and another amazing set of Roldan Netya products!
Third prize: A fabulous batch of Roldán Netya products to continue enjoying in the kitchen!
