The Association of Hotel and Catering Businesses of Torrevieja and Region (AEHTC) is organising a new edition of the already consolidated gastronomic competition "Croqueteando por Torrevieja", which in 2026 celebrates its sixth edition with the aim of continuing to promote quality, creativity and innovation in one of the most emblematic products of Spanish gastronomy: the croquette.
The competition will involve the participation of bars and restaurants associated with Torrevieja and the surrounding area, who will have to present an artisan croquette - traditional, signature or innovative - made with ingredients of their choice.
The competition will take place in two phases. On the one hand, on Tuesday 5 May 2026, the evaluation by the professional jury will take place in the CdT Torrevieja. Subsequently, from 11 to 17 May, the public will be able to taste the proposals in the participating establishments, at a fixed price of 3.50 euros including drink.
During the competitive phase, participants will present their creations to a specialised jury, assessing aspects such as flavour, texture, presentation and originality. The winners will be announced on 19 May.
The competition will award important prizes, including a first prize of 1,000 euros, trophy and product voucher, followed by a second prize of 500 euros and a third prize, both also with the recognition and support of the sponsor.
In addition, the three winning establishments will participate in gastronomic events of national relevance such as Alicante Gastronómica, FITUR or Gastrónoma, thus contributing to the promotion of local gastronomy and the competition itself.
The registration period will be open from 30 March to 20 April 2026, and those interested should send their application together with a photograph of the croquette submitted.
With this initiative, Torrevieja has once again positioned itself as a gastronomic reference point, supporting quality, culinary talent and the revitalisation of the local hotel and catering sector.
