The grants will provide funding for up to 100% of the cost of upgrading machinery, air-conditioning and sun protection systems to improve the energy efficiency of the premises.
The Alicante Provincial Association of Hospitality Business Owners (APEHA) informs its members that the call for applications for the Emergency Plan for the Renewal of Equipment in the Hospitality Sector, a grant scheme launched by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism in collaboration with Hostelería de España, aimed at improving the energy efficiency of bars, restaurants, cafés and tourist accommodation.
The call for applications provides for grants of between 5,000 and 11,000 euros, and can reach up to 100% of the eligible investment, for measures aimed at reducing energy consumption in businesses. Eligible investments include replacing machinery and household appliances with more energy-efficient models, upgrading air-conditioning systems, and installing more efficient awnings and parasols.
Eligible expenditure includes the purchase and installation of new equipment, the drafting of technical proposals, the administration of the grant application and the justification of the grant, as well as the waste management costs arising from the removal of the replaced machinery. VAT and other taxes are excluded from the grant.
The deadline for submitting applications will remain open from 5 August to 30 September 2026, or until the available budget has been exhausted. Grants will be awarded for order of submission of complete applications, which is why APEHA advises business owners to prepare all the necessary documentation as far in advance as possible.
Companies and self-employed individuals in the hospitality sector who are registered with the CNAE 55 and 56, which carry out their activities within Spain, are up to date with their tax and social security obligations, and meet the requirements set out in the regulations on grants and the de minimis aid scheme.
The required documentation includes a descriptive report on the project, justification of the expected energy savings, quotes or invoices for the investment, a property registration certificate, documentation confirming the CNAE classification and compliance with the requirements set out in the call for applications. Once the grant has been awarded, the beneficiary will have the specified period to carry out the project and provide evidence of the investment by means of invoices, proof of payment and documentation confirming the energy savings achieved.
APEHA will provide support to its members throughout the application process, providing information on the requirements of the call for applications and coordinating the administrative procedure to ensure that applications can be submitted correctly and as quickly as possible, thereby increasing the chances of securing the grant before the available funds run out.
