TORREVIEJA TOWN COUNCIL CAMPAIGN - COLLECTION OF BIORRESIDUES and creation of an \"ORGANIC SEAL\" for participating establishments.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new environmental and waste regulations, promoted by the European Union and transposed into national and regional legislation through the new waste laws, make the selective collection of bio-waste obligatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bio-waste, according to the above mentioned laws, is considered to be any biodegradable vegetable waste from households, gardens, parks and the service sector, as well as food and kitchen waste from households, offices, restaurants, wholesalers, canteens, mass catering and retail establishments, among others, and comparable waste from food processing plants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To start with the collection of this waste in Torrevieja, and through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Next Generation Programme of the European Union, the City Council is going to proceed with the creation of what is going to be called the \"organic seal\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This seal is a seal of quality at municipal level that will be awarded to those premises and catering establishments, as well as large generators, that recycle bio-waste at source. The establishment that possesses this seal can use it in any campaign, advertisement, logo or activity in general in which it participates, so that the customers of this establishment know, simply by seeing it, that it contributes to the environment by recycling the organic waste generated by the establishment at source. In the future, this seal will also allow the establishment to be financially compensated or to have priority in aid or subsidy campaigns, as well as to obtain tax advantages, if applicable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To carry out this recycling at source, at least initially, interested premises will be provided with one or two brown bins of 120 or 240 litres, depending on the generation and size of the premises, as well as 400 units of compostable bags, which will be used for these bins (for canteens or large premises, more bags will be considered).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once separation at source has begun, a municipal lorry will collect the containers door to door on a daily basis. The collection timetable will preferably be in the morning, from 7:00 a.m. onwards, although it will ultimately depend on the number of premises assigned and their closing times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
